The Sisters of the Cameroon Area gathered recently at the Deo Gratias Welcome Centre on Mount Mbankolo, Yaoundé. There they worked in large and small groups to pray, discuss and discern the future of the Cameroon area. Following a period of discernment and supported by the prayers of sisters throughout the Congregation, Sisters Emerentia Kewong has been named as leader. Assisting Emerentia as councilors will be Sisters Pascaline Fon, Elizabeth Kunsah, and Norah Ngwa.

Sister Emerentia is a nurse in Bafoussam. She was a member of the previous leadership team with special responsibility for formation. Sister Elizabeth is a student living in the Bamenda Community. Sr. Pascaline is the principal of St. Mary’s Secondary School in Ndop and Sr. Norah has been teaching in Dar es Salaam for the past two years and will return to Cameroon to teach in St. Mary’s School in Ndop. The sisters will serve the Cameroon Area for a five-year term.
The Holy Union Constitutions describe these tasks of leadership: to encourage initiative, enable diversity of gifts to be integrated in the service of mission and challenge the sisters to move with hope into the future. (Article 112)
For their part the sisters are called to collaborate with leaders and offer mutual support that will strengthen our union with Christ. (Article 113)

Thanks were offered to Sisters Emerentia Kewong, Rebecca Sepepka, and Geneviève Yano for their service of leadership to the Cameroon Area for the past five years.
