8 February, is International Day of Prayer and Awareness Against Human Trafficking and the Feast of St. Josephine Bakhita. As a young child, Josephine was kidnapped from southern Sudan and sold into slavery and brought to Italy. When she was released from captivity, she joined the Canossian Daughters of Charity. Josephine was canonized in 2000 and is the patron of victims of human trafficking. |

Sister Eugenia Mshana is a member of the Leadership Team for the area of Tanzania. She works with the Tanzanian Conference of Women Religious on the issue of human trafficking. |

For Human Trafficking Awareness Day, Sr. Eugenia organized an event at the Don Bosco Vocational Training Centre in Dar es Salaam. A victim of Human Trafficking shared her experience with the youth at the Centre. |
