As World Water Day comes on March 22, Sister Cecilia Egho has a special reason to celebrate. Sr. Cecilia is a student at Divine Word College in Iowa, USA. Last year in her Public Speaking Course, one assignment was to deliver an advocacy speech. Sr. Cecilia’s topic was assistance in addressing the global water crisis with a special focus on its impact in her native Cameroon. Her speech was entered into the Norton Speakers Prize National Speech Competition. Each year, W.W. Norton Publishers awards a prize for the top submission for a student from a four-year institution. Sr. Cecilia was recently notified that she has won first prize. As part of her award, she will receive a cash prize, which she plans to send to her congregation to support well-digging efforts in Cameroon.
