Golden Jubilee
On 25 March 1975, Sister Gladis Suarez joined the Holy Union Sisters. The small group of Holy Union Sisters in Argentina joined Sr. Gladis in Moreno Parish to celebrate her fiftieth anniversary. The day began with a liturgy in the parish chapel where the sisters renewed their vows of chastity, poverty and obedience. People from the parish joined the sisters in the celebration. A festive lunch followed the mass.
Congregation Feast
Each year on 25 March Holy Union Sisters throughout the world renew their vows and celebrate in a special way this Congregation Feast. On 23 March 1867, Father Jean Baptiste Debrabant wrote to his sisters: "We shall celebrate, next Monday, the lovely feast of the Union of Jesus and Mary, which is the special feast of the Congregation.”
200th Anniversary of Holy Union Sisters
The sisters in Argentina celebrated the beginning of the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the Holy Union Sisters. In 1826 a small group of women in St. James Parish in Douai in northern France came together to pray and give religious instruction to the children of the parish. Their pastor, Father John Baptist Debrabant recognized the gifts of these four women and together they formed the beginning of the Holy Union Sisters. Other young women in the area soon joined and in 1843 the first profession of vows by Holy Union Women took place.
