A safeguarding policy training session brought together Sisters from the Cameroon and Tanzania areas of the Congregation of the Holy Union, facilitated by Tina Campbell, with participation both in Rome and online via Zoom. Sisters Joan Mary Kiyveyonge, Vera Ngalim, and Sister Kuate Michèle were present in Rome, while Sisters Eugenia Mshana, Alice Nyaga, Emiliana Mshana, and Jesca Wachanga, joined from Tanzania. The session provided an opportunity to review the work already undertaken, identify key achievements, and make practical adjustments, with particular attention given to the seven safeguarding standards and their application in daily life.
The discussions highlighted that safeguarding goes beyond written policies and requires attitudes and relationships rooted in respect and vigilance. Cultivating a true safeguarding mindset is essential to ensuring safe environments. Grounded in the charism and mission of the Congregation, this commitment seeks to protect the dignity of every person, especially the most vulnerable. The participants expressed their gratitude to the General Team and to Tina Campbell for the quality of the training.
